I have honestly NEVER made chocolate chip cookies from scratch. I cut this recipe in half because I didn't want to have a lot of cookies hanging around the house to tempt me.

How it Happened: Tonight I was at Earthfare gathering groceries for a pasta dinner. What I was really craving was chocolate. Earthfare was out of chocolate morsels, so I grabbed a Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar. I didn't know if it would work, but thought, "what the heck!"

I halved the recipe and used my one broken up Girradelli semi-sweet chocolate bar for the chocolate "chips." I also like brown sugar more than white, so I looked for a recipe that called for more brown sugar. Give it a try!
