40 WATT: Top 10 Greatest Rock Venues of All Time

Gibson article declares 40 Watt one of the Top 10 Greatest Rock Venues of All Time. Ok, who didn't already know that?

My first live music show was at the 40 Watt, so I never realized how awesome it was until I started traveling around North Carolina and DC for other shows. 40 WATT is just the right size, off-the-beaten-path, no attitude, great drinks and atmosphere. Yep, its awesome...

Not to mention I have personal memories of:

1)REM shows

2)Easily standing in the front row for a Kings of Leon show. That was before screaming teenage girls knew about them (2005)

3) Getting on stage with The Rapture to ask for their set list, which they gave to me!

4) Regular shows from my favorite local band, Modern Skirts
